BD Diesel
This performance-built transmission is engineered to handle up to 300% more power and torque than stock while dramatically increasing drivetrain durability. It features all-new bushings, a redesigned valve body, revised oil circuits, and a fully rollerized geartrain to reduce friction and improve reliability.
Stock thrust washers are replaced with roller Torrington bearings to protect governor solenoids, while a drilled intermediate shaft and modified manual valve ensure proper lubrication in all gear positions. 47RE transmissions are upgraded with stronger 48RE components, including new input shafts and hub assemblies. Line pressure increases occur at lower RPM and lighter throttle input, maintaining firm shifts without harshness and eliminating shuttle shifting.
Clutch capacity is increased with heavy-duty clutches featuring up to 25% more friction material, machined pressure plates and pistons, a high-temperature Raybestos band, and billet band and accumulator components. Hydraulic control is further improved with an upgraded governor pressure transducer and solenoid, along with a cooler line case saver for added protection.
Cooling and strength are enhanced with a BD rigid aluminum heavy-duty transmission pan, which adds 1 quart of fluid capacity, reduces case flex and internal leakage, features heat-dissipating fins, and includes a magnetic drain plug.
Clutch configurations include Forward (5), Direct (5), Overdrive (6), and Overdrive Direct (10), making this transmission a proven solution for high-power, high-torque diesel applications.
